ANDERSEN WINCHES

The drive shaft is AISI 329 stainless; adjustable self tailing arm through 360 degrees on all  models except 12st and 28st.   Self tailing arm is curved to give a fair lead - due to the holding power of the drum the friction is minimized.  Stainless steel roller bearing cage assembly to carry vertical and horizontal drum loads.  Upper ball bearing and the lower roller bearings are designed to have maximum distance apart giving increased support for the drum and increasing efficiency.  Large diameter roller bearings to absorb drum loads and increase efficiency.  All models 46 and larger have a base plate made from aluminum bronze which is twice as strong as standard bronze.  Self tailing mechanism adjusts to various line sizes.   Light weight stainless drum with Power Ribs gives superior grip to lines without causing excessive wear.  Drum surface with Power Rib generates horizontal friction and highly polished surface minimizes vertical friction allowing line to slide easily up the drum.  Stainless drum and internal construction make these winches similar or lighter than most aluminum winches.  Andersen  winches are built in the Denmark, the company has been in business for 50 years. The majority of the boats to start the Around Alone race in 1998 were equipped with Andersen winches.  These are professional quality winches.
